NetDocuments' final release of the year with holiday gifts for all. Here are but a sampling of the goodies.
Records Retention Enhancements: Watch Demo
> Immediate Purging - with the Document Retention rules, we now provide an immediate purging option.
> Retention Policy History - a history is now kept showing all purging rules.
Document Management Enhancements
> Word Import as New Version - Watch Demo Allows a non-ND Word document to be saved as a version of an existing document using the Word integration. This will work for attachments received in emails and also locally saved Word documents.
> Right Click Copy URL - Easier access to creating a document URL by adding it to the right-click menu.
> History Data Download - View Example You may now download a document history that will then allow local sorting of the data in an Excel spreadsheet or database.
> Online Word Editor now supports Word 2007 format. Watch Demo
> Add Folders in extension dropdown on Advanced Search - you now have a 'folders' option to pick from instead of needing to enter the code manually.
Workspace Enhancements
> Customize Auto Created Folders - when workspaces are defined to automatically create folders, you can now define the columns to be displayed on those folders.
EMS Enhancements
> In EMS, store Archived Emails as PST files - you will now have the option to drag the ND - Archived Folder to your personal folders area to be stored as PST files.
> View workspace inside of Outlook - When the NDView button is selected in EMS, the view will appear in Outlook as opposed to a separate browser window. Watch Demo
> Hide single EMS cabinet - when a user has only one cabinet, a folder for the cabinet is not created in EMS, eliminating an unnecessary folder layer.

NDLink - Automate the Updating of Client-Matter Lookup Tables NOW
NetDocuments and LexisNexis announce the availability of NDLink, a Software application that automates the transfer of client and matter information from any accounting system that is ODBC-compliant including Tabs, Juris, PCLaw, Elite, Aderant, etc., to NetDocuments look-up tables. It includes some ready built "profiles" to some apps, but as long as your accounting system is ODBC-compliant you can write your own query.

Law firms add, change, and delete new client and matter information on a regular basis. The original source of this information is recorded in the time and billing accounting system. By automating the continual updating of this information into NetDocuments, the firm no longer needs to worry about manually keeping the list updated, saving the firm in both time and money, and it improves user productivity by avoiding delays in getting documents categorized to the appropriate matter on a timely fashion.
