Salt Lake City, UT – May 15, 2019 – NetDocuments, the leading secure cloud-based content services platform for law firms, corporate legal teams and compliance departments, today announced that Gray Reed, a full-service, 150 lawyer firm with offices in Dallas, Houston and Waco, has selected NetDocuments as its secure cloud-based content services platform. The firm, which had been using iManage for nearly a decade, selected NetDocuments in order to fully embrace a native and secure cloud document management platform.
According to Jason Rodriguez, Gray Reed’s Director of Information Technology and internal lead on the DMS selection, the existing on-premise solution was extremely cumbersome regarding back-end infrastructure and server maintenance. “We are a small IT shop so spending considerable time maintaining the technology to run our DMS was no longer an option. We were also challenged in leveraging the existing system to meet rapid firm growth, especially as it related to maintaining the infrastructure moving forward. It just felt like we could never keep up.”
A concern with the existing system’s cloud offering was its immaturity and the fact that it was unproven as a true native cloud solution.
“We needed to be in the cloud and be able to outsource the IT burden to someone else so we could focus our attention on strategic IT issues,” said Rodriguez.
Ultimately, Rodriguez and his team selected the proven NetDocuments native cloud platform.
“The firm spent considerable time networking with peers at other firms, speaking with existing NetDocuments customers, and participating in available product and strategy workshops and presentations. We felt very good about our decision based on NetDocuments’ maturity and dominance in the native legal cloud space as well the company’s overall reputation and track record,” added Rodriguez.
For Gray Reed, the most important aspects of the NetDocuments DMS is the ease of use afforded through a familiar user interface and accessibility and mobility, which have driven user adoption. The firm has been implemented since March.
“Considering the firm had been using the same system for almost 10 years, initial user satisfaction and adoption has been extremely positive,” shared Rodriguez.
While firm security comes down to firm IT leadership, Jason Rodriguez and his team fully trust in the well documented and proven NetDocuments security and governance controls and processes.
“It’s nice to see a growth-oriented firm like Gray Reed put its trust in the cloud and in the NetDocuments platform we have spent 20 years enhancing,” said Alvin Tedjamulia, CTO, NetDocuments. “Changing DMS providers is no small feat so Gray Reed will find comfort in joining the 2500+ NetDocuments customer community as well as having access to our ever-expanding partner ecosystem.”
As a pioneer in cloud-based legal technology, NetDocuments has spent two decades providing its customers with the safe, ready, and proven solutions necessary to improve workplace productivity and ensure optimal security and governance of firm and client content.
“It was time for some positive and good change. Our selection and use of NetDocuments is a great example of embracing change and riding the cloud momentum wave currently cresting in Legal,” concluded Rodriguez.
