Has NetDocuments officially acquired eDOCS?

Yes. On January 12, 2026, NetDocuments announced that it had completed its acquisition of OpenText’s legal document management solution (DMS), eDOCS. As part of this transaction, NetDocuments acquired the technical assets and dedicated personnel associated with eDOCS. NetDocuments eDOCS™ is now a solution in the NetDocuments portfolio. Read the press release >

Why did NetDocuments acquire eDOCS?

NetDocuments made this decision very intentionally. eDOCS is a strong, trusted platform with incredible customers, partners, and a team that knows legal document management deeply. While OpenText chose to divest eDOCS, NetDocuments saw a solution and a community that deserved long-term stability and a company fully dedicated to legal technology to support it. 

At NetDocuments, our mission is simple: to help legal professionals do their best work. Bringing eDOCS into our portfolio is a natural extension of that commitment.

What does this mean for my partnership?

eDOCS partners are now part of the NetDocuments partner ecosystem. All existing partnership agreements continue without interruption, in accordance with their terms. We’ll work with all eDOCS partners to transition them over to the NetDocuments partner programs and enablement resources to expand their opportunities.

What’s next for eDOCS partners?

eDOCS partners will receive an invitation to a welcome town hall on January 21 that is a joint partner briefing outlining timelines, onboarding, and new benefits available through the unified NetDocuments Partner Program. They will also receive outreach and ongoing engagement from our collective channel focused resources. 

What kind of enablement will I receive on the NetDocuments platform?

The NetDocuments partner team offers Sales and Technical trainings and certifications without any charge as an investment to help you get onboarded, as well as monthly webinars and master classes.  

What will happen to my current shared contracts with OpenText?

eDOCS partner agreements have been assigned to NetDocuments. Your NetDocuments channel manager will be reaching out to help you transition into the right NetDocuments partner program model and NetDocuments agreement soon.
